BUDDING romantics can impress their loved ones with a tasty treat this Valentine’s Day - thanks to a little help from the professionals.

Lawson’s Delicatessen in Aldeburgh has put together a special menu ahead of February 14 that people can pick up in advance and finish off at home. For every order £1 will be donated to the British Heart Foundation in memory of former mayor, James “Jimmy” Robinson, who passed away at the end of last year aged 56.

The deli’s Claire Bruce-Clayton said: “Jimmy was such a great guy and did so much for the town. His wife, Tina, has worked for us for many years and we thought it would be a nice thing to do.

“We don’t have a restaurant so people can’t come in and have a meal. However, we do provide outside catering so we came up with a menu to ‘heat and eat’ at home. People are trying to save the pennies so this provides a really lovely alternative to a restaurant.

“Our idea was to include stuff that’s easy to put together. Our chefs have done all the fiddly things and all people have to do is pick it up and follow the straightforward instructions. It’s ideal for someone who doesn’t have a lot of experience in the kitchen.”

The menu includes crab cakes, lamb shank, Thai green prawn curry and chocolate marmalade cake.
