NatWest’s “Enterprise Bus” has called in at West Suffolk College, offering an opportunity for students to drop in for a series of advice and information sessions.

Advisers involved in the one-day visit included representatives from enterprise agency MENTA, accountants Knights Lowe and St Edmundsbury Borough Council as well as NatWest staff.

Penny Stevens, lead for enterprise and entrepreneurship at West Suffolk College, said: “It is a wonderful opportunity for our students to see what is going on in the business world. This supports everything we are doing in the college and at UCS Bury St Edmunds.

“The ground floor is for general information and advice and the top deck is for taught classes. I have worked with staff to schedule students in and out all day long from degree students to Business Diploma students.

“They have the chance to talk about their ideas for running a business, find out who they can go to for help or hear about sources of finance. Lecturers have been able to ask for different things in the different sessions.”

Pre-booked groups of students attended during the morning and afternoon, with drop-in sessions over the lunchtime period.

NatWest intends to continue to work with the college, providing a range of sessions to support students from all departments.
