The company which operates the Quality Hotel Bury St Edmunds and Quality Hotel Colchester has gone into administration.

Peter Holder, Nick Cropper and Anne O’Keefe, partners at advisory and restructuring specialist Zolfo Cooper, were appointed joint administrators of Barinbrook Ltd on February 26, it has been confirmed.

The administrators said that the hotels in Bury and Colchester, together with four others also operated by Barinbrook on a leasehold basis, would “continue to trade as usual while the available options are assessed”.

Barinbrook, formerly known as Akkeron Hotels (Admiral) Ltd also operates Quality Hotel-branded sites in King’s Lynn and Peterborough, the Cromwell Hotel in Stevenage and the Himley Hotel in Dudley.

Peter Holder, partner at Zolfo Cooper, said: “We are assessing the available options and would like to thank the staff for their continued support and professionalism during this process.”

The same partners at Zolfo Cooper have also been appoinited joint administrators of Barinbrook (Central) Ltd, which owns the Best Western Rockingham Forest Hotel in Corby.

This hotel will also continue to trade as usual while efforts are made to find a buyer for the 71-bedroom property.

All seven hotels were acquired, on a leasehold or freehold basis, by Akkeron Hotels in 2011 from the administrators of Butterfly Hotels Ltd and Crowne Hotels Ltd.

At that time, the hotels in Bury, Colchester, King’s Lynn, Peterborough and Stevenage were operating under the Ramada brand while Himley Hall was then operating as a Best Western hotel, together with the Rockingham Forest Hotel.
