East Anglia: Region’s firms miss out on top honours at VisitEngland Awards for Excellence

Two tourism-related businesses in Suffolk and north Essex have narrowed missed out on top honours at the 2014 VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.

Waldegraves & Cosways Family Holiday Parks, on Mersea Island, received a bronze medal in the Caravan Holiday Park/Holiday Village of the Year category, with the top gold award going to Seafield Caravan Park at Seahouses, Northumberland.

And the Museum of East Anglian Life in Stowmarket was Highly Commended in the Small Visitor Attraction of the Year category, for attractions receiving fewer than 50,000 visitors a year, with gold going to the Galleries of Justice Museum in Nottingham.

The awards were announced at a ceremony held at Cheltenham Racecourse.

East Anglia’s largest independent firm of surveyors has consolidated its position with the purchase of another Suffolk-based business.

The Morrisons supermarket in Stowmarket will close on April 3, it has been announced.

Greene King has agreed another major cricket sponsorship deal, this time in support of the game at grassroots level.

The BT apprenticeship showcase evening

More than 200 students, parents and teachers gathered at BT Adastral Park in Martlesham for the company’s apprenticeship showcase on Wednesday.

Alastair Kerr and Philip Turner. Mr Turner's firm, the Chestnut Groupr,  is to take on the management of the White Horse Inn at Easton, near Framlingham.

A picturesque village pub is set to be relaunched under new management in May.
