Forward-thinking East Anglian sheep farmers will be given an insight into issues around the animals at a confernce in Newmarket.

The Progressive Sheep Conference will be offering an in-depth look into a variety of technical subjects at a special EBLEX event being held in the region this month.

The event, which takes place in Newmarket on Thursday, February 23, will feature presentations from speakers including Kate Phillips of ADAS, who will open the conference with the latest research on lameness and highlight practical ways to improve control. In a separate session she will take a look at the importance of trace elements.

Harriet Fuller, an independent sheep vet, will give advice on recognising and preventing Coccidiosis, and other health issues relating to the lambing season. She will also talk about local health issues, including the Schmallenberg virus and liver fluke.

A farmer from the region will present a case study looking at their own flock management.

The EBLEX Progressive Sheep Conference will take place at the National Farmers’ Union East Anglia, Agriculture House, Willie Snaith Rd, Newmarket, CB8 7SN, from 10.30am until 4pm.
