Slow Food East Suffolk is set to be publicly launched on September 27 and 28 at the ninth Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival at Snape Maltings.
Founded in Italy in 1989, the international Slow Food movement was created to promote good, clean, fair food for all and has more than 100,000 supporters worldwide – more than 4,000 of them in the UK.
The new group has been set up to further Slow Food’s ambitions in East Suffolk and showcase seasonal, fresh and artisan foods and drinks produced locally.
It has been established by Julie West, Jeremy Thickitt, Colin Maunder and co-founders, Mark Dorber and Glyn Williams, who are local members of the international Slow food movement.
The slow food launch at the Aldeburgh food festival will include an interactive educational stand, it will be demonstrating sausage-making ‘from pig to plate’ to the next generation of foodies.
The demonstration will be sponsored by local butchers, Clarke’s of Bramfield.
