The Women’s Voices, Women’s Votes Festival, delivered by women for women, celebrates the centenary of women’s suffrage in Britain and is sponsored by the East of England Co-op.

The mentoring sessions will offer young women, aged 18-30, an opportunity to discuss their aspirations and receive guidance from inspirational, professional women at University of Suffolk’s Waterfront Building, Neptune Quay, between 2.30pm and 3.30pm.

There will also be empowerment workshops, opera and drama performances, a Suffragette exhibition, children’s activities and multicultural food stalls. Project co-ordinator Nikki Packham said it provided “a great platform” for young women in Suffolk.

“Our sessions are set to provide a great platform that will offer young women in Suffolk a chance to pick the brains of inspiring women who have achieved their goals and also discuss the options for their own career and academic paths.”

Oli Watts, head of communications and community at East of England Co-op, said: “Self-help, equality and solidarity are key co-operative values. We’re really pleased to be supporting this event which marks an important milestone in gender equality and provides support to future generations.”

While walk-ins will be welcome to take part in speeding mentoring on the day, sessions can also be booked in advance by email: wvwv100@gmail.com.
