Systems integration specialist Smart421 has completed the transition of tour operator Kuoni UK’s website to the Amazon Web Services (AWS)“cloud” computing platform.

Ipswich-based Smart421 won a competitive selection process to deliver the website transition based on its expertise in the AWS Cloud and experience in technology change.

Robin Meehan, chief technology Officer at Smart421, said: “AWS makes migration projects of this scale and speed possible in ways that were not cost effective before.”

“Kuoni’s busiest trading period is immediately after Christmas, therefore it was essential to deliver quickly. This engagement demonstrates what happens when you put a great customer and an experienced AWS partner together in a room, and add a clear business requirement and a seriously ambitious deadline. We’ve proven again we are the enterprise partner of choice when it comes to AWS Cloud.”

Luise Bashford, business systems and architecture manager at Kuoni, said: “The project required a phenomenal effort from all involved, the whole team at Smart421 went above and beyond to achieve the transition in the timescales.”

Derek Jones, managing director at Kuoni, added: “The deadlines for this project were extremely tight and Smart421 liaised with a large number of people to bring about the change.

“The feedback from everyone involved at Kuoni has been extremely positive, it’s not often that IT partners are described as ‘amazing’.”
