Essex marine engineers Red7Marine has appointed a new managing director.

Kristen Branford joined the firm, based at Wrabness, near Manningtree, 18 months ago as commercial director and is described as “an extremely important asset to the team in growing the business”.

In his new role he will manage the day-to-day running of the business and help bolster the company and its services. He has more than 18 years’ experience in the near shore marine construction industry.

His specialist expertise in civil engineering, marine piling and drilling, project management, risk mitigation and the sub-sea construction is helping to build on the success of Red7Marine.

The promotion coincides with Nick Offord’s move to chief executive officer where he is focusing on strategy, board-related duties, business development, client relationships and supporting Kristen in his new role.

Financial controller Kieran Chapman has also been promoted to head of finance, taking overall responsibility for the daily management of Red7Marine’s finances.Red7Marine experienced an extremely successful year in 2017, growing from £7m to £16m turnover in one year. It hopes to continue growing with a focus on the renewables, operations and maintenance sector and the prospect of a new barge launch in 2019.

Nick said they were “delighted” at the promotions.

Suffolk Chamber of Commerce has recruited Stuart Franklin to the newly-created role of business development manager.

The ex-managing director of BizClik Media in Norwich has spent 25 years in media, sales and advertising starting in Fleet Street in the early 1990s, before moving onto Rex Features, later to become stock photography firm Shutterstock, and moving to Suffolk in 2015 for family reasons.

“I’m looking forward to growing the Chamber’s membership levels across Suffolk,” he said.

Cara Miller has joined the Chelmsford office of accountancy firm MHA MacIntyre as partner.

Cara, who has 20 years’ experience in accountancy, starting at Barker Tilly, and going on to run her own successful accountancy practice in East Anglia, will work on a portfolio of corporate and not-for-profit clients. Her expertise spans taxation and business advice, with a specific focus on audit and compliance services. In 2013 she was named East Anglian Young Business Person of the Year.

Fornham House residential care home has taken on Stuart Coleman as home manager.

The home, based at Fornham St Martin, Bury St Edmunds, is part of the Healthcare Homes Group.

Stuart began his career in the care industry with Scope in 2000, where he supported people living with learning disabilities. He progressed through the ranks, becoming a senior carer and a team leader, before moving into managerial positions.

He managed a specialist home in Feering, Essex.

Satellite MPR has welcomed Sam Darr to its account management team.

Sam will be working alongside Susanna Annesley, ensuring the smooth running of all accounts.

Ellisons Solicitors has appointed Michelle Lamm as associate chartered legal executive.

Michelle, a highly trained and experienced professional, specialises in wills, estate administration and power of attorney work, and will be based at the firm’s Clacton-on-Sea office.

She has more than 10 years of experience and is a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives. She has also recently qualified as a Trust and Estate Practitioner with STEP, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
