Ipswich Building Society has bolstered its mortgage team with the appointment of Michelle Stevens as new head of mortgages.

Michelle has 10 years’ experience working with the mutual sector, and was company director of Stevens Financial Services from 2003-2011. She joins from another regional building society where she was business development manager, mortgages.

In her new role, Michelle will take on a number of key functions designed to ensure the society, which is based in Ipswich, continues to offer competitive products targeted at a diverse range of individuals. Michelle will take responsibility for its mortgage offering in intermediary and direct markets, relationships management with key intermediaries and training for the mortgage sales team.

Michelle said: “I will seek to ensure that Ipswich continues to differentiate its service from other lenders by recognising what brokers’ value - an agile, considered and individual approach to underwriting. A key focus initially will be developing Ipswich’s broker proposition even further by growing relationships and building new ones.”

Chief executive Paul Winter said: “We’re pleased to have Michelle on board at this key period of developing our channels and strengthening our relationship management approach with intermediaries.”

Mike said: “As a company we have always taken our relationships with our suppliers and our customers very seriously. This new role has been created to ensure that we continue to build on the good work that has been done to date.

“My plan is to bring leadership and direction into all aspects of supply chain management and make sure that we continue to strengthen our excellent relationships, whilst also building on our corporate sustainability and environmental ambitions.”
