Manorcourt Homecare, the homecare services division of the Healthcare Homes group, has appointed Mike Osborne as managing director.

He joins Manorcourt Homecare, based at Langham, near Colchester, after working at director level for a major national care operator with direct responsibility for its care at home and learning disabilities divisions, which delivered a combined 149,000 hours per week of care to its service users.

Mike has more than 30 years’ service sector experience including 11 years in health and social care, and is a highly experienced and successful business and team director.

His previous roles included national operations director of the Community Services Group of Care UK, group managing director at Servoca Health and operations director for Allied Healthcare Group.

Mike Osborne said: “As the requirement for domiciliary care continues, I will ensure that the organisation is well placed to scale as demand increases.”

Manorcourt Homecare employs more than 1,000 staff and specialises in delivering care services for people who wish to remain in an independent home environment for as long as possible.

: : Ipswich-based chartered insurance broker Woodward Markwell is enjoying more exams success.

Cert CII status holders Amy Weir, Jenny Baker and Matt Scutcher have moved nearer diploma status while David McGowan and Mark Parlett are working their way towards chartered insurance broker status.

As well as the insurance broking team, two members of the financial services department, Davina Olson and Katie Barfield received passes in their subjects, Davina moving ever closer to chartered financial planner status.

Woodward Markwell already has two chartered insurance brokers and one chartered financial planner in their own rights.

As well as supporting staff with industry qualifications, Woodward Markwell is also working with two apprentices, Martin Moore and Kate Loder, introducing them to the financial industry. Both have recently achieved their level 2 qualification and are now progressing to complete level 3.

“We are committed to supporting all staff in their career development,” said director Beverley Monk.

“We will continue to invest in introducing a young generation to our industry to give them the best possible start to their career.”

: : Leiston-based Quatreus Ltd has appointed Justine Samouelle as account director.

Justine, who has more than 15 years’ experience of working with major brands, joins the creative communications agency to support its long term relationships with clients, such as BT, while extending its reach into new sectors.

Director Richard Edwards said: “I am delighted with this appointment. It will enhance our existing relationships, extends our knowledge base, and opens up new and exciting opportunities for us.”

: : East Anglia-based law firm Ashton KCJ has welcomed a new solicitor to its agriculture and estates team.

Rebecca Gatens has joined the firm and is based at its Guildhall Street office in Bury St Edmunds, where she joins partner and head of agriculture and estates Jonathan Long and partner Jeanette Dennis.

Rebecca is a property specialist who qualified as a solicitor four years ago. She previously worked in Lincolnshire, where she trained, and has a wide range of experience in non-contentious property work including land acquisition and disposals, residential estate set-ups, commercial leases for landlords and tenants, and agricultural projects including purchases, sales, restructuring and refinancing of farms.

Rebecca recently acted for 40 parochial church councils, advising on the obligation to investigate and register chancel repair liability.

: : Mark Emms has been appointed managing director of services firm Norse’s subsidiaries Waveney Norse and Suffolk Coastal Services (SCS) in east Suffolk.

Mark has been with Norse for six years, most recently as commercial cirector in charge of the company’s £25million turnover catering division.

He was also project manager with responsibility for managing the transfer of Norse Care from Norfolk County Council into the Norse Group, and has been involved in the creation of a number of Norse’s local authority joint venture company partnerships around the UK.

Managing director Peter Hawes said: “Mark has proven himself in a number of high responsibility roles within Norse, and was an obvious candidate when the position at Waveney Norse/SCS became available. It is very reassuring that we have such an exceptionally strong list of internal candidates available for promotion, a factor that bodes well for the future of the company.”

: : Ipswich law firm Gotelee solicitors has made two key promotions.

James Davies has been promoted to partner after two years supporting clients with services personal injury claims including asbestos-related illnesses, elder abuse claims and road traffic accident claims. James joined Gotelee in 2012 as a solicitor in the growing personal injury team.

Oliver Ray, part of the property team at the firm’s Ipswich office and who has been with the business since 2008, specialised in working with local companies to service their commercial property needs, has been promoted to associate solicitor after building up a strong reputation with his clients.

: : East Anglian architects’ firm Feilden+Mawson has appointed former Cambridge University fellow and Royal Academy exhibitor Charles Curry-Hyde from Ipswich as its 14th partner.

Born in South Africa, Charles worked in Switzerland and Australia before coming to England nine years ago. He has worked on a number of high-profile UK architectural projects such as the recently opened Stonehenge Visitor Centre, Kent’s Bluewater exhibition hall and plaza, the Manchester Civil Justice Centre and London’s Rolls Building.

Since moving to the UK, Mr Curry-Hyde has regularly worked with F+M – which has offices in Norwich, Cambridge, London and Prague – both on secondment from previous employers and on a consultancy basis while running his own practice in Suffolk for the past five years. He will work across all three UK offices.

Mr Curry-Hyde, who has a wife and two daughters, has a waterfront cabin in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the banks of the River Deben.

He will continue all his current work with F+M, which includes the £8m Whisstocks Project at Woodbridge for F W Properties of Norwich creating a community facility and residences from a former boatyard site and a new £1m theatre in Ipswich for the Red Rose Chain.
