A new cafe/bar is set to open in Sudbury next week with the creation of 25 new jobs.

The Lounges, the West Country based restaurant/café/bar group is opening up a brand-new site in the town on Market Hill, on Wednesday, called Prado Lounge.

The company has spent £615,000 transforming the site into a family-friendly retro-inspired cosy retreat, where eclectic art work and quirky curios sit next to oversized vintage sofas and old school benches, strikingly painted table tops and statement lighting.

And it has chosen The Smile of Arran Trust to support.

Attention has been paid to families and there is a selection of games and books, colouring pencils and pads, a full menu just for Little Loungers and high chairs and baby-change facilities are available for the tiny ones.

Klive Roberts, operations manager, at The Lounges, said: “We’re really looking forward to throwing open the doors at Prado Lounge and showing the locals how to lounge in style. The team are looking forward to becoming part of the community and will support local groups and initiatives wherever possible.”

A community notice board is available for those wanting to publicise events and a book swap area is kept well stocked.

The team will also be holding regular fund-raising events as part of their commitment to making a difference in the community and with this in mind the team have chosen to support The Smile of Arran’s Trust which aims to make a difference to children and their families whose lives have been affected by a brain tumour.

It was set up in memory of extraordinary and inspiring young man Arran Tosh, who lived in Sudbury, and who lost his life to a brain tumour at age 13.

His family had no idea he was gravely ill until a routine eye test revealed something was wrong and he was referred to West Suffolk Hospital for an MRI scan. He was rushed to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, for surgery but died a few days later.

Arran, who was a student at Hedingham School in North Essex, had set up a JustGiving page with a target of raising £1,000 for Cancer Research UK, inspired by his aunty Kerry who had battled and beaten breast cancer.

He had been busking outside the Cancer Research charity shop in Sudbury and was also planning to have his head shaved to boost his total.

Prado Lounge will donate 50p from every burger and 10p from every coffee sold from their first month of trading to the charity.

The all-day menu features everything from their famous authentic tapas and Hero Burger to Tin Pan Louie’s beef chilli or there’s the ever-changing specials board. Little people, vegans and those favouring a gluten-free diet are well catered for with their very own menus.
