PRINT firm Polstead Press is aiming to build on two consecutive years of growth through a £20,000 investment in new machinery.

The Stowmarket-based company has acquired a Duplo 445 IFS unit which is able to score, cut, perforate and fold up to 50 sheets per minute.

It will replace three older machines, helping the company streamline the finishing end of production run with improvements in terms of both speed and quality.

“All of this is automated, so once the operator has set up the correct parameters they are free to get on with another job,” said director Chris Hutchinson.

He added: “We’ve been increasing in size year on year; in fact May this year was our busiest to date. This is why we felt now was the right time to invest what is a large amount of money but money well spent, we feel.

“We try to keep moving forward and up to date with new technology; we don’t want to rest on our laurels. Our customers expect the best and that is what we strive to provide. We look to innovate rather than imitate.”
