Experts believe a rare piece of Arsenal memorabilia could fetch almost £10,000 when it goes up for sale in Suffolk next month.

It is an excellent condition programme from the first ever Gunners game at Highbury on September 6, 1913.

This was against Leicester Fosse, and the home side won 2-1 with George Jobey and Archibald Devine the scorers.

Lockdales, the auctioneers of Martlesham, will put the programme up for bids at its sale on September 14.

Lockdales Auction Manager James Sadler, a football programme specialist, said: “This is so exciting. I’ve only ever seen one before.”

Arsenal will be represented at the auction.

A spokesman said: “We would dearly love to have this remarkable programme in our museum,”

A wealth of vintage programmes of all types will go under the hammer at the auction including Ipswich, Norwich and Colchester ones from the 1930s.
