Flavour and fragrance ingredients company IFF has launched a consultation which could result in up to 48 job losses at its factory in Haverhill.

Rob Berry, manager at the Duddery Hill site, said that, as part of an onging review of the group’s operations, it was proposed to transfer some manufacturing to an IFF site at Tilburg, in the Netherlands.

The company was consulting with the Unite union and staff representatives, and would consider all options for limiting the number of redundancies while achieving its objectives, said Mr Berry.

It was possible that investment at the Haverhill site could also result in nine new roles being created, he added.

IFF, which is based in the United States, currently has 278 employees in the UK of which nearly 250 are based in Haverhill.
