The sight of caravans at Nowton Park, Bury St Edmunds, prompted concerns that an encampment of travellers who left last week had returned.

However, the caravans are actually members of the North Essex Caravan Club Rally, which is completely authorised by the park owners, St Edmundsbury Borough Council.

Concerns on social media were raised today (July 26) after the caravans were spotted at the picturesque park, with the travellers previously disrupting the regular Saturday Parkrun.

They agreed to relocate within the park after initially setting up in the middle of the site set to be used for the My WiSH charity dog show.

However, the travellers kept to their agreement to completely vacate the park on Wednesday, July 19, after arriving the previous Thursday, July 13. They have not returned.

The North Essex Caravan Club Summertime Fun In The Park Rally, which is authorised up to a maximum of 40 caravans, will end on July 29.
