Food Pub of the Year

Entries are welcomed from Suffolk-based dining pubs who consistently strive to achieve, maintain and improve the quality of what they offer, eg. presentation of service area, the food produced, staff efficiency.

Judges will be looking in particular at the following:

  • Use of locally sourced produce
  • Offering a selection of menus, containing a variety of dishes, including balanced healthy options and dietary consideration
  • A variety of drinks to complement menu, including the wine list
  • Presentation of food
  • Evidence of specialist skills - in the preparation, presentation and production of the food
  • Value for money
  • A warm and friendly welcome which exceeds the expectation of the
    customers
  • Staff awareness of menus and, as appropriate, an ability to explain thelocality and choice of the ingredients
  • Meeting customer needs, both in the production of the food and in the service area

Sibton White Horse Inn, Sibton
In a beautiful location, this attractive and atmospheric pub offers food and drink pertaining to its character.  A warm welcome with a relaxed and informal atmosphere ensures that you feel at ease as soon as you walk through the door.  Food style is all about fresh home cooked food, using local and seasonal produce wherever possible.  The White Horse also offer a “no turning table” policy which means you table is yours for as long as you wish.

The Anchor Inn, Nayland
Located on the Suffolk/Essex border, the Anchor Inn incorporates the Anchor Inn Heritage Farm and “kitchen garden”.  The individuality of this establishment is that the Heritage Farm provides virtually all the meat and majority of the vegetables and herbs for the Inn.  The staff are passionate about the simplicity of delivering food to the table from the land closest to it, in a way that restores and conserves a natural working landscape.  Menus change regularly and are shaped by the availability of seasonal ingredients.

The Triple Plea, Halesworth

The Westleton Crown, Westleton
