Best restaurant
Entries are welcomed from Suffolk-based restaurants who consistently strive to
achieve, maintain and improve the quality of what they offer, e.g. presentation of
service area, the food produced, staff efficiency.
Judges will be looking in particular at the following:
- Use of locally sourced produce
- Offering a selection of menus, containing a variety of dishes, including balanced healthy options and dietary consideration
- A variety of drinks to complement menu, including the wine list
- Presentation of food
- Evidence of specialist skills - in the preparation, presentation and production of the food
- Value for money
- A warm and friendly welcome which exceeds the expectation of the customers
- Staff awareness of menu(s) and as appropriate, an ability to explain the locality and choice of the ingredients
- Meeting customer needs, both in the production of the food and in the service area

The Boathouse Brasserie & Bar, Sudbury
Offering wonderful views across the River Stour and water meadows, the Boathouse has a large alfresco dining terrace in addition to the main restaurant. Chef Patron Paul Wharrier and his team have created a menu that aims to use as many regionally sourced ingredients as possible and offers an a la carte and fixed price regional two-course lunch menu/two/three course dinner menu. The Case Restaurant with Rooms, Assington, Sudbury
Barry Kappes and his team have been established at The Case for 21 years, during which time they have built up a very good relationship with local suppliers, sourcing where possible, fresh, local produce which is evident in their frequently changing menus.
