Blog of Doom

Mike Bacon

Dominic Castle has been the deputy editor of the East Anglian Daily Times for five years and been in the newspaper business for far longer than he expected. East Anglian bred (well, Norfolk to be honest) he and his family are settled in Ipswich. A keen, but tragically slow, cyclist he also enjoys the cut and thrust of the badminton court, live comedy and obscure 80s band This Mortal Coil. Why the Blog of Doom? Well, signing off his e-mails as ‘Dom’ produced the spellcheck option of ‘Doom’ and so every now and then someone got an e-mail from Doom. Which was nice for them

Lynne Mortimer, aged 52 but feeling older, addresses the e-literati on the subjects closest to her heart: why political correctness is bad for you; why self-help is bad for you; why DIY is bad for you; Why txt spk is bad for you; why the internet is bad for you; why being crabby is good for you

Derek Davis is the Ipswich Town writer for the EADT, and also writes the bi-weekly Championship Chatter column. Derek is a relative newcomer to Suffolk, previously working at newspapers in Portsmouth, Colchester and Stoke, and has covered everything from ping-pong to petanque at home and abroad.
Not good enough to make money from sport professionally after trying his hand at boxing and American football (among others) Derek decided writing about it was the next best thing.
Derek will give an insight in to a sports journalist's week, putting paid to the myth it is all jolly japes with glory and freebies
