A CHIP shop owner got a shock as he was about to tuck into a pie - only to be confronted by a startling image of legendary comedian Tommy Cooper.

Crad Jones discovered the image in his shop in Caerphilly, South Wales, which was Cooper's home town.

Mr Jones, 45, said he called the manufacturers, Peter's Pies, when he noticed the silhouette so they could document his find.

He said: “The comparison was amazing. It was definitely Tommy Cooper.

"I called my daughter over and she recognised it as Tommy Cooper too. I got the pictures because I thought no-one would believe me."

Cooper was famous for wearing a red fez and getting his magic tricks intentionally wrong.

After he died in April 1984 a bronze statue of him wearing the hat was erected in Caerphilly.
