Rocker's manager faces crash charges

THE manager of pop star Pete Doherty has this morning appeared in court to face a number of charges in connection with an alleged hit-and-run in Hadleigh which left a man fighting for his life.

Andrew Boyd, 42, of Lady Margaret Road in London, is accused of careless driving, dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of an injury collision, failing to report an injury collision and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

He has also been charged with driving other than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance.

Chris Corder, 42, remains in a critical condition at the Royal London Hospital after being seriously injured in the collision in Benton Street, Hadleigh, on Sunday, September 27.

Appearing before District Judge David Cooper at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates Court, no plea to the offences was lodged by Boyd.

The case was adjourned until December 3, when Boyd will appear at Ipswich Crown Court.

He was released on conditional bail until then.
