Aldeburgh is a traditional seaside town, with a shingle beach where fishermen still sell their catches from the beach. It has remained relatively unchanged for many years.

The rivers Alde and Ore enter the sea close by and they are a safe haven for yachtsmen and sailing boats. It is possible to walk along the raised shingle seas wall and see the sea on one side and the rivers on the other.
