Cherie in a strop - allegedly

OH dear, oh dear - trust the wife to drop you in it. Cherie's blown the whole conference apart by storming away from a television station in the conference hall allegedly saying "that's a lie" during Gordon's speech on just what  wondeful mates he and Tony are.

Downing Street denied it, but the damage was done. Gordon will get in a huff, warfare will resume, and Cherie will be the centre of attention.

Bloomberg Television is standing by the story, it was the lead item in tonight's London Eveneing Standard. Come off it Downing Street, why deny it?

It was a fairly pedestrian speech by Gordon, not really the stuff of leaders. Nevertheless the comrades will have loved it. The poor dears will transfer their affection to Gordon - and soon forget Tony ever existed.

Other people must have been within earshot too, will they corroborate Cherie's reflex action? Bloomsberg could hardly turn round and deny it, a case of being in the right place at the right time.
