Clinton shines

AFTER the Lord Mayor's Show, someone has to shovel up the s*** and who better than Bill (I did not have sexual relations with that woman) Clinton.

In reality, Clinton gave a brilliant speech in Manchester, entreating the comrades to go back to their constituencies and tell with pride the Blair story, of how the public services are better, people in Britain are no longer in dire straights, that global poverty is being tackled and climate change is very much on the Labour agenda.

He did all he could to endorse Gordon Brown as the next leader - how well will that have not gone down with Cherie - but unlike his 2002 conference speech in Blackpool, he didn't mention the Tories once. He still hasn't forgiven John Major for his support of Preisdent George Bush in the 1992 US election which Clinton won. That's why he's such pals with the Comrades.

Otherwise, today has been boring, enlivened only by Jon Cruddas's decision to run for the deputy leadership. Cruddas is the little known MP for Dagenham, so I doubt if he'll get anywhere. However, it would be refreshing for a London Essex MP to be elected to a top job in the party

Time to sign off from Manchester. I've one more story to file and I'll be on a train tomorrow morning.

Bournemouth and the Tories from Saturday. What a thrilling prospect.

Hello there,
Getting ready for the run to Walberswick.
Having Bill there must have cost a load.
That chap does not come cheap.
Never took to him, or his wife.
Rather Spooky. Like the Cobbler and companion.
Manage to avoid the their Lets Get Together Shows.
Where as George W. Bush and wife are very entertaining. Very very funny.Even relate stories against themselves.
One never refuses an offer to their parties.
We are off. Adnams at The Bell tonight maybe.
If there is a lot in there, it will be over to Southwold instead.

The Bell sounds better than the City Arms just outside the Manchester conference centre - a pint or two of Hyde's Anvil Ale certainly leaves a hangover.

Many of the comrades escaped early as my train was packed. What are the railways coming to - 5 minutes early into Euston.

And I see Clinton still hasn't lost that twinkle in his eye, he is a gifted orator.

Enjoy Bournemouth! Hope you can visit bloggers row, you should be able to pick up a copy of Iain Dale's Guide to Political Bloggers.

Any chance of getting me the Lonond Olympics 2012 official tie, as worn by Tonty for his peech? Can't get one anyway, and I'm not that well in with our Ken.
