Another year, another Queen's speech
15:45 and it's absolutely chucking it down outside the office. The forecast is none too bright for tomorrow, the Big Day, the State Opening of Parliament when Her Majesty, in all her glory, rides by horsedrawn carriage from Buckingham Palace to Westminster to deliver the loyal speech from the throne.
It will be the last speech written by TB, but it's hardly likely to be earth shattering. A watered down climate change Bill and a local government reform package without reference to council tax - the subject which matters most to those of us who have to fund council spending - will be about asd good as it gets. There may be an attempt to alter the detention without charge for terror subjects from 28 to 90 days, which will be the most controversial and may be difficult to get through Parliament.
Last year's post-election Queen's Speech was hardly earth shattering and much of the proposed legislation either didn't come to pass or was substantially altered through the passaage through Parliament.
Still the pomp and ceremonial will be there. I'll be in the House of Lords gallery and report back tomorrow.
