The Witham test for the `A' list

TONIGHT'S the night in Witham when David Cameron's much vaunted `A' list will be put to the test.

Three `A' listers - Priti Patel, Charlie Elphicke and MP James Brokenshire - are up agsint popular Euro MP Geoffrey Van Orden, whose disadvantage is his age, 62.

Tory eyes will be on Witham. Will they go for modernisation or tradition? Just watch out for the metrosexual wrath on the `A' list web site if the nomination is handed to Van Orden.

# re: The Witham test for the `A' list

I thought there were anti-ageist laws these days, if Geoffrey feels he is up to it, then that should be good enough. But would he want to do two terms?
I know Geoffrey is very popular in Essex, he had his supporters turn out in droves for the Euro selection, I'm sure he will be very popular again. It will be a very interesting result.
