Tebbit turns on Cameron
LABOUR is enjoying hugely playing mindgames with the Conservatives. It's not just about the timing of an election - it's being put about that the Tories must brace themselves for more defections to Labour.
With Tory strategists in turmoil, the last person they wanted to stick his oar in is Lord Tebbit. But the former Conservative chairman won't be silenced and in an interview for The Times to be published on Saturday, he berates Cameron for wanting to be the heir to Blair. It was not surprising argues Tebbit that Gordon Brown should invite Lady Thatcher to Downing Street and portray himself as the heir to Lady Thatcher.
Tebbit also accuses Cameron and his hench men of having no idea of how ordinary folk have to cope on low incomes. He's implying that a policy of taxing to the hilt cheap flights will hit the less well off, a policy which makes no differebnce to mega rich Cameron, George Osborne and Zac Goldsmith
Mr Brown may think its great fun to tease the Conservatives over an election as Labour's opinion poll lead continues to climb daily, but he is also playing ducks and drakes with his own party faithful. Having hyped up the possibility of an autumn campaign, he risks letting down Labour activists, who may not be so easily motivated for a poll next year.
