Anyone but Andy
AT least we are spared the wet knickers brigade screaming "Come on, Tim!" as the great British lawn tennis hope goes down to another defeat at Wimbledon. The British reaction to the two week-tournament baffles me - Wimbledon is but one of four grand slam tournaments, but there is little interest in the US, Australian, and French tournaments.
The attention of Brits this year is meant to be focused on Andy Murray, who won't clad himself in the Union flag but will profess allegiance to the saltire. I shan't be cheering for Murray. My hostility to him stems from the 2006 World Cup when he declared that he didn't care which team did, as long as England were defeated.
I return the sentiment. I don't care who beats Murray, as long as it's early in the tournament.
