They are simply people who would rather power stay “closer to home”. But the question I would like to ask Euro-sceptics is this one. How could the UK leave the EU without the breakup, possibly violently, of either or both? Take the UK. It is not a country, but a political union of four. For the UK to leave the EU without a constitutional crisis, it would require the Republic of Ireland government, and the Scottish Executive to do the same. The ROI is not part of the UK, and Scotland gained the constitutional right to secede from it with devolution. For those in the Celtic corners of the British Isles, Brussels is only another stop or two on the train from London. Some citizens of Londonderry in Northern Ireland, for example feel so strongly about rule from Westminster that they drop the “London” from the city’s name. Within the EU, Britain holds a key role. As native English speakers, the UK provides an interface between the EU and the USA and Commonwealth. It also champions the smaller countries who fear being ruled by a Franco-German pact, and those who want more flexibility in their dealings with the EU. Its immediate removal would cause a considerable political earthquake, the effects of which would be hard to predict. The biggest irony is, if we are to prevent or reverse further movement of powers to Brussels, clamp down on corruption and bureaucracy, the EU desperately needs a constitution. A constitution is not a document that grants powers to a governing body. It is one that protects its members from the powers of their governing body. Isn’t that protection what a sovereign Britain needs?    Report

You may want to do some research on an organisation called "Common Purpose". This pro EU "charity" meets behind closed doors (Charter House Rules) and includes high ranking police officers, military officers, politicians, bankers - they aren't very good at keeping accounts, which is suprising, especially when £50 million was piped into this "charity" in one lottery bequest alone - and it's re-assuring to see the accusations made backed up by documentary evidence which names names.
