A village green in Suffolk played host to hundreds of classic cars and bikes yesterday as enthusiasts from across East Anglia gathered to display their pride and joy.

The fifth annual Classics on the Green in Friston welcomed about 200 vintage vehicles, including a fleet of bubble cars, three classic Rolls Royces and a rare Talbot 105.

Tony Morley, who runs the event with fellow car enthusiast Simon Ive, said it was as well attended as last year’s event, despite the poor weather.

“I think it’s an amazing sight for such a small village to have the green almost completely covered in vintage and classic cars,” he said. “For an event that only lasts a short amount of time, it’s quite brilliant so many people attend.”

Funds raised from donations on the day will go towards St Mary’s Church in the village, which last year benefited by more than £2,000.

Organisers have thanked all those who supported the event.
