The town’s Art on the Prom event saw the seaside resort’s promenade packed with families soaking up the September sunshine.

As part of the event, a large section of the promenade was taken up with artists selling a wide variety of their work.

There were paintings, photographs, ceramics, glasswork, fibres and jewellery on display by a total of 88 artistes.

Steve Wyatt, who helped to organise the event, said: “It’s been a great day and the weather has helped to generate a bumper turnout.

“We’ve had more artists taking part in the event this year than ever before and it’s fantastic to see so many people here enjoying themselves.

“It’s also encouraging to see so many people – and especially youngsters – showing an interest in art.”

Most of the work on display was completed by local artists, but there was also work by a Portuguese artist and an Iraqi refugee now living in Ipswich.

As well as enjoying a wide variety of artwork guests got to take part in a number of art-themed workshops, including tie-dying and willow-sculpting.

There was also live music performed by the Co-op Brass Band and the Suffolk Youth Jazz Group.
