THE “House Full” signs had to put up for all three performances of Grease by pupils at Thomas Gainsborough School, Great Cornard.
It was the first production by the school’s performing arts team and prompted comments of “inspirational’ and “awesome” from the audience for the talented cast.
Staged last week at the school in Head Lane, the lead roles were taken by Connor Foster as Danny; Danielle McIntyre as Sandy; and a cameo from Alex Miller, as Teen Angel. Featuring a host of well-known songs, it was directed by Kirsty French with Anne Middleton, stage manager; Catherine Pipe, musical director; Amie Butcher, choreographer; and Nick Everitt, light and sound.
The Rydell High Class of 2013 was transported, along with the audience, to the Californian summer of 1959 where they followed the trials and tribulations of Sandy Dumbrowski and Danny Zuko, and their friends and rivals.
Danielle has performed in past school productions and at the Bures Festival.
She said: “In the future I hope to be living my dreams and wake up every day and perform on the stage.” And Connor added: “I hope to have a future in the performing arts genre. I have thoroughly enjoyed rehearsing and performing Grease and hope everyone remembers it.”
