The changing face of photography retail on the high street has been reflected in the re-opening of a new Jessops store in Bury St Edmunds.
There are fewer cameras on display at the new-look outlet in the Arc Shopping Centre, which opened its doors today, with half the shop containing printers for customers to print out their images from different devices.
On hand are Jessops’ “photosmiths” who have been trained to help people get their images off phones and memory cards and to use them to create pictures and artwork, and to display their images on cushions, scrapbooks, photo albums and within creative framing.
Retail director of Jessops, Scott Worger, said: “More than 95 million photos are uploaded to Instagram each day, yet we keep forgetting to print them. For many, one of the most thoughtful gifts you can receive is a favourite photo presented beautifully in a frame.”
