POLICE have today named the man who died after his car collided with a tree on the A12 at Capel St Mary on Sunday November 18.

He has been named as 49-year-old Charles Lamont from Dundee.

Mr Lamont’s body was found after police were contacted around 4.10pm on Sunday to reports of a car on its roof in a field just after the BP garage. The scene was attended and a silver BMW was located on its roof, off the south-bound carriageway.

Following the initial investigation officers now believe that the collision may have taken place some time between 6.30am and 9am on Sunday morning and police are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have seen the vehicle leave the road to get in contact.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 101.

Shocking new images of people dicing with death on the region’s rail lines has been released by train operator Greater Anglia in a bid to reduce the number of trespass incidents on the track.

The Colchester vineyard was named as the only East Anglian Gold Medal winner in the Cellar Door category.

Police are appealing for witnesses following a hit and run road traffic collision in Worlington this morning.
