A teenager has described the “terrifying” moment he was sent spinning in his car on the A14 after being hit by a lorry.
Craig Hazelwood, of Kings Close, Woodbridge, was struck from behind in his black Fiat Punto on the eastbound carriageway of the A14 between Copdock and Wherstead at around 5.15pm on Wednesday.
The car collided with the central reservation, spun round and ended up in lane one before being recovered.
The 18-year-old believes it was a lorry which hit him.
He said an eye-witness also told him she saw a lorry strike the back of his car and sped off after briefly stopping in a nearby lay-by.
Suffolk police are appealing for help in tracing the driver.
But the trainee electrician, who suffered only minor neck injuries, said: “I was surprised he drove off. If I hit someone I would have stayed to make sure they were all right.
“It was quite terrifying. I had just been to Tesco and was driving back when I was hit from behind.
“It wasn’t a big shunt but it was enough to knock me about and send my car spinning across the road.
“It was pretty scary. I didn’t know what was happening. I sat there for a few seconds at the wheel in shock.
“I called my parents and my mum couldn’t believe what had happened. They jumped in my dad’s van and drove down to see me.”
Suffolk police are urging witnesses and the lorry driver in question to come forward. Call 101.
