A dedicated supermarket customer and former employee cut the ribbon to reopen her local store following a £450,000 makeover.
Cynthia Revell, who cut the ribbon at Aldeburgh’s new-look East of England Co-op supermarket in Saxmundham Road, used to work the tills at the town’s other store, in the High Street, during the 90s.
The store now has an improved layout, a brighter atmosphere and a wider range of products from local producers. It also features a boat, displaying its ambient produce, and new timber shelving at the in-store bakery.
Retail executive, Roger Grosvenor, retail executive, said: “Our investment in both the supermarket and the High Street store demonstrates our commitment to making sure that we serve the community for many years to come.”
Donations were also made at the opening to the local RNLI, Aldeburgh Primary School and Riding for the Disabled.
