Suffolk and Essex rail commuters were facing long delays to and from London Liverpool Street this evening after a person was hit by a train at Stratford.

All services running through Stratford have now resumed, however operator Abellio Greater Anglia has warned commuters to expect residual delays to remain until 8pm.

A spokesman for British Transport Police (BTP) said: “We were called to the line close to Fairfield Road in Bow at 4.18pm following reports of a person being hit by a train.

“Colleagues from London Ambulance Service also attended and a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious and officers are now working to identify him and inform his family.

“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Passengers are being urged to check their journeys online here
