An inaugural Midsummer Ball has been hailed a huge success after raising nearly £50,000 for a Suffolk-based charity.
Hundreds of guests turned out for a fundraising party at Milsoms Kesgrave Hall in aid of the GeeWizz charity which supports children and young adults in Suffolk and Norfolk.
Guests enjoyed an evening of food and dancing as well as an auction which helped raise £48,797 to support GeeWizz’s work.
In particular, some of the money raised will support five-year-old Jasmine Moxon, from Beck Row, who suffers from Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy as well as crucial research into Sarcoma cancer.
GeeWizz founder Gina Long MBE said the evening had been a huge success.
She said: “The sponsors, auction prize donors, supporters and all the organising team were outstanding while the generosity on the evening went to another level. A magical woodland setting at Milsom’s Kesgrave hall and wall-to-wall sunshine ensured we had the perfect platform for our first GeeWizz Midsummer Party.
“GeeWizz continues to grow from strength to strength and everyone who supported our Midsummer Ball, in any way, knows that they are helping us to change local lives.
“We are so very grateful to everyone involved in making the evening the huge success it was.”
James Stott from the event’s main sponsors, Abbeygate Wealth Management, added: “The Midsummer Night’s Party was a tremendous event, thoroughly enjoyed by all lucky enough to attend and it was our huge pleasure to sponsor it, the attention to detail was phenomenal.”
Lots in the auction, overseen by Edward Crichton from Lacy Scott & Knight, included a VIP match day experience at Manchester United, a celebration six course gastronomic dinner at Maison Bleue, a junior motorcycle from John Banks Group, Wimbledon tickets, a two-page spread in the EADT, a weekend at the idyllic ‘The Windmill Suffolk’, a cookery course, followed by dinner at the famed Le Talbooth in Dedham and tickets to a ball hosted by Gary Neville and Gary Barlow.
Renowned British artist Ben Mosely also showcased his talent on the evening with a unique ‘live painting’ which was a coveted prize during the auction.
