Ardleigh: Rail lines re-opened but disruption expected to continue until 2.30pm after person is hit by train

All lines between Manningtree and Colchester have now re-opened but commuters may still face delays of up to 20 minutes after a person was hit by a train and died in Ardleigh this morning.

British Transport Police and paramedics were called to the incident, close to the line at Station Road, at about 11.10am today.

The person who was hit by the train was pronounced dead at the scene.

A BTP spokesman said: ““BTP and Essex Police officers attended the incident, which was reported to BTP at 11.07am and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

“Medics from East of England Ambulance Service also attended but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the person and inform their family.

“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Disruption is expected to continue until at least 2.30pm
