Two people suffered a frightening ordeal after six masked men, armed with weapons, raided their home in Colchester and assaulted them both before taking a large quantity of jewellery.

The couple, who live in Arden Close, were woken at around 11.30pm yesterday and were confronted by six men who had their faces covered.

Now Essex Police are appealing for information after an aggravated burglary.

Several men had weapons and threatened the pair, before physically assaulting the two victims.

The men, who have been described as having Irish accents, searched the house and took a large quantity of expensive jewellery.

Officers attended the scene and conducted a search of the area.

Anyone who may have seen men in the area, or has dash cam footage or CCTV is asked to call 101 and ask for Colchester CID. The incident number for this job is 1537 of 09/07.
