A woman was reported to be “startled” after discovering an unknown man in her home.

Essex Police has appealed for public help following the suspected attempted burglary, which happened in Braintree Road, Witham, just before 2.40pm on Thursday, August 23.

The victim, a woman in her 40s, confronted the man, who left her house and ran off.

The man was described as being 6ft tall, white and had stubble. He wore a baseball cap and a light-coloured jumper. He was said to have been of “medium or stocky build”.

Anyone with information about the identity of this man, or about the incident, is asked to call Braintree CID on 101 quoting reference number 42/122300/18.
