The search is on for the next Snow White to star in this year’s panto at the Regent Theatre in Ipswich.

Casting directors are seeking a talented local actress to take the leading role in an all-singing, all-dancing production of the Disney classic.

This is sure to be a dream opportunity for many young performers – as the show’s musical director called Snow White “the best pantomime part for an actress to play,” while the producer predicted the role could act as a springboard for “a glittering career”.

Budding actresses over 18 years of age can audition for the part at the Regent from 11am on Monday, September 24, with registrations starting at 10.30am. Shortlisted entrants will then be invited back the next day.

Hopefuls need to bring a song of their choice with a backing track to sing to the audition panel. They will then be given some acting sections from the script of Snow White to perform in front of the pantomime’s creative team, along with this year’s stars Matt Pagan and Stevi Ritchie.

Both performers have plenty of experience under the bright lights, as Matt won Britain’s Got Talent with Collabro in 2014, while Stevi found fame on the X-Factor and Celebrity Big Brother. Atomic Kitten’s Natasha Hamilton will also join the fun as the Wicked Queen.

The new Snow White must be available from December 1 until January 2 – rehearsals take place until December 13 while the actual performances begin the following day.

It is a contracted role, meaning the chosen candidate will be paid for their work.

Musical director Jezz Weatherall said: “Snow White is probably the best pantomime part for an actress to play and we’ll be looking for someone who can sing, dance and act to a very high standard.”

Producer Guy Pascall added: “It’s going to be a fantastic production and what an amazing opportunity for a local actress to gain valuable professional experience in the panto and to start them off on their own glittering career.”

Enchanted Entertainment will be bringing 28 performances of Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs to the Regent Theatre from December 14 2018 to January 2 2019.
