Revised proposals for a 50-acre solar farm have been submitted after earlier plans were withdrawn last year.

Hive Energy Ltd has put forward the plans for the multi-million pound solar farm at Hill Farm, Baylham, near Needham Market.

Residents have arranged a public meeting to discuss the plans as they have until February 12 to submit their views.

Last May Hive Energy withdrew the original application for site surveys and archaeological work to be undertaken.

Baylham Parish Meeting had strongly opposed the plans when they were first put forward. Its criticism included concern over the potential impact the solar farm would have on views.

District councillor John Field claimed there could be a “substantial” impact on the environment as there were a number of listed buildings in the village.

Now, a campaign website has been setup objecting to the revised plans.

Bosses from Hive Energy have said the new proposals had been produced following feedback, including on the visual impact, on last year’s application.

Julian Pertwee, from the company, said in November that the site had the potential to act as a “beautiful nature reserve”, which would improve bird and insect life.

The public meeting will be held in Baylham Village Hall tomorrow from 10.30am.

Mid Suffolk District Council is expected to make a final decision on the plans by the end of April.
