A man is due to appear in court this morning charged with going equipped for theft, attempted theft of an outboard motor, and obstructing a police officer in the execution of his duty, after he was arrested in Beccles yesterday.
Police were on patrol in the Beccles Quay area in the early hours of Thursday, February 27, as part of the current Safer Neighbourhood Team priority to prevent marine thefts, when they spotted a man acting suspiciously.
Two men were arrested a short time later and both were taken into custody where they were interviewed by officers.
Following further enquiries and these interviews Vyautas Sovinas, 24, of Winifred Road, Great Yarmouth, was charged and detained in custody pending an appearance at Ipswich Magistrates Court this morning.
The second man - Tadas Giriunas, 24, of High Street, Watton – was also charged with going equipped for theft and attempted theft of an outboard motor and he has been bailed to appear at Lowestoft Magistrates Court on Tuesday, March 18.
