A second woman has today been arrested in connection with an assault at the Old Deanery Care Home in Braintree after detectives examined the contents of a BBC Panorama programme.

The documentary, which was broadcast on April 30, highlighted the treatment of residents inside the care home.

Today, officers arrested a woman in her 30s at her home in Braintree on suspicion of assaulting a resident at the care home.

On Saturday, May 3, a woman in her 40s from the town was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a resident at the care home.

Both are on police bail until the end of July pending further inquiries.
