They were called shortly after 2.25pm, and officers attended the scene and found a Yamaha YBR motorbike and a white Iveco panel van had been in a collision.

Essex Police said the rider had suffered leg injuries and was being treated on the scene by paramedics.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance said a man in his 40s was taken to Broomfield Hospital.

The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident but has since reopened.

An air ambulance also attended, although the casualty was taken to hospital by road.
