A 20-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender in connection with a murder investigation in Braintree has been released on bail.

Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate launched a murder investigation after a 24-year-old man died in hospital after being stabbed in the chest.

Police are investigating a disturbance at a premises in Cressing Road, Braintree, at around 11pm on Wednesday.

The woman, arrested yesterday, was released on bail and is due to report back to police on May 30.

Earlier today, police said a 57-year-old man arrested on Wednesday at an address in Braintree in connection with the investigation has been released without charge. No further police action against him is anticipated.

A 24-year-old man remains in police custody.
