Publican Hannah Clark, who runs the Old Cannon Brewery, in Bury St Edmunds, with her husband Garry, is running the marathon in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer and is aiming to raise £2,600 - the equivalent of £100 per mile of the 26-mile course.

The charity is close to the couple’s heart as a member of staff was treated for breast cancer last year.

And as part of her training she has been taking “selfies” of herself at the new “welcome” signs for the town.

When out for a run one day she happened to pass by the Visit Bury St Edmunds sign on A143 which had just been installed. At the same time the Bury in Bloom team were having their photo taken beside the new sign.

Hannah said: “I thought it would be a good idea to plan to run past as many of them as possible during my training and mentioned this to Melanie Lesser, from Bury in Bloom.

“She suggested taking a ‘selfie’ at each one so I did. I managed to get to eight of the 10, with the remaining three not being accessible by pavement/footpath.

“They are on our Facebook page (facebook.comtheoldcannonbrewery) and I have had a really good response from our followers – although I’ve also had some strange looks from car drivers passing by as I’ve been taking the pictures.”
