An 85-year-old woman who went missing from Bury St Edmunds earlier today has been found.

Police officers were contacted shortly after 5pm this afternoon to reports that 85-year-old Betty Hammond had contacted a family member to say she was lost.

Betty was in a chip shop on Old Westgate, Bury St Edmunds at around 5pm when she made the call and officers were unable to locate her.

She has now been found safe and well.

Officers have thanked members of the public for their assistance with this appeal.
