Bury St Edmunds: Auction for chance to line up with Ipswich Town legends

11:55 27 March 2014

Archant

Football fans who fancy lining up in midfield alongside Kieron Dyer or getting on the end of a Darren Currie cross have a few days left to fulfil their ambition.

West Suffolk Hospital Charity is giving two people a chance to do all of the above and much more by lining up in an Ipswich Town legends squad at a special fundraising football match in May.

The legends team will take on the hospital’s Forget-Me-Not FC, made up of members of the public who have paid £100 for the opportunity to take on the Portman Road heroes.

The hospital’s 17-man squad was sold out within 36 hours last week, with all money split between the Forget-Me-Not Dementia Campaign and the ITFC Academy.

This week, the hospital charity is running an online auction, giving away two spots in the legends squad for the charity match on May 18 at Bury Town’s Ram Meadow. Bidding for each place starts at £200 with the auction closing at 5pm on Friday. Email dave.gooderham@wsh.nhs.uk to place a bid.
